Sandblasted Glass
Sandblasting or etching glass is done by blasting a fine grit media into the surface of the glass. This is often used to distort being able to see through the clear glass or to soften the transmission of light through the glass.
Sandblasting can also be combined with different grades of media to have several levels or surfaces creating a carved effect. We are able to achieve multiple surface carvings using CAD drawings and vinyl masking. This allows us to repeat the process without variations from piece to piece.
Our typical media is a very fine aluminum oxide that creates a very smooth uniform surface almost like that of acid etching. By using extra fine aluminum oxide, it reduces fingerprinting on the glass that is compared to course porous sandblasting methods.
